AREX is the Republic of Korea's largest ever private investment project, and Its first public infrastructure private investment railway project. It is a response to both growing air traffic and the need for diversification of transport provision.

AREX will provide a key link between Incheon International Airport and downtown Seoul, bringing widespread economic, environmental and lifestyle benefits.
  AREX - The Pioneering Spirit

AREX, designated as the concessionaire of the private investment project in 1997, incorporates several Well-known domestic names, including Hyundai Engineering & Construction and MOCT.

Total investment amounts to \3,949 billion, comprising \931 billion of equity, \845.8 billion of public capital subsidy, and \2,172.2 billion of debt financing underwritten by Korea Development Bank.

The project has been implemented under BTO (Build-Transfer-Operate) terms. AREX has achieved a new private investment landmark.
